Upper Canada Youth For Christ, serving churches in Upper Canada by building relationships, sharing resources, and following the pulse of God where it is already beating.
This week Upper Canada YFC will be in training with a church in Brockville to do a week long day camp. Centennial Road Church and Upper Canada YFC are looking at reproducing this camp for rural area's in the Upper Canada region as short term Summer mission projects. It is often difficult to pull the resources and volunteers to run a summer VBS or Christ based youth camp in rural area's. This pre-packaged camp will allow youth to enjoy "My Summer Rocks" in a local setting while allowing rural churches to build relationships with families and their children.

I (Johanna) have never been to a day camp that is as well run, with the value of activities and the clear message that is spoken about our Lord Jesus. If you know Pastor Desirae, you will know that she only runs activities that are done above and beyond anyone's expectation. We feel so blessed to have this opportunity with Centennial Road Church.

Please pray this week for the "My Summer Rocks" camp at C-Road, there are 170 campers registered!!! Pray for the Camp director, Pastor Desirae, her family and all of the people volunteering. Pray for the youth as there are a good percentage that have never heard the wonderful news of Salvation before. Pray lives will be changed and that God is known and graces us with his complete pleasure this week.

I would also ask that You pray for Seaway Christian church in Prescott as they run their half day VBS this week as well. Churches pouring into the next generation is so important. Please pray these camps are a stepping stone for families and their children to participate in their local church community. Excited to join  God where He is already at work in peoples lives this week!

Please check out Upper Canada's Face Book page to see
ongoing pictures from both camps this week!

Thank you so much for your prayer covering!

Youth for Christ National Ministry Conference, 2016
National Ministry Conference for Youth for Christ. It had been 17 years since I had attended one of these. Much can change in that amount of time with an organization. I was pleasantly surprised to see not much had with YFC Canada. Culture was still the same; YFC workers are a breed of their own with much needed insurance and a gift go against the currant. Mission was the same; to win youth into the kingdom of heaven by just about any means possible. Vision was the same; to reach every youth in every nation in every people group with the good new of Jesus Christ.

17 years ago there had been a shift in strategy with YFC that has since been corrected... Today, in 2016, YFC Canada is VERY committed to working beside the local church in bringing Youth to Christ. This is the single most important truth I learned at this gathering. God had laid this same vision in the heart of Upper Canada YFC even while being detached from the larger corporate group for 17 years. God knew what changes were happening, and He always works in unity with himself. I am so thankful to see YFC called back to align with the Bride of Christ.

This conference with our family was a time blessed with affirmation about what He has begun in Upper Canada, and what He will continue doing on to completion for His name sake.
From National Ministry Conference, our family then went on a three day vacation to Toronto / Niagara Falls. Shaun and the girls were sick, but by Gods grace, we made it home safe. Thank you for your prayer and support during this time as our family needed some time away together for rest and relaxation.
This summer we will continue to assess, evaluate and build up the "foundations" of Upper Canada YFC. We must be effective in what and how we do ministry. We will be asking questions like... if I only have an average of 3 years with a youth, what are the core things that they need to learn and thrive in today's world to be a follower of Christ Jesus? We will be asking the churches how we can work together to have youth and their families be an active part of church and christian community. We will also be working through the job descriptions, roles and training of two new staff for the Fall. In all of this we will need wisdom and perseverance. Pray that God continues to send the right people in the right time, and that we will be sensitive enough to know when, who, what and where.

Thank you so much for your ongoing prayer covering. At Upper Canada we believe
everything must start, end and be bathed in prayer. This is where the work is done. Thank you for doing this with us.
