Upper Canada Youth For Christ, serving rural youth ministries in Upper Canada by building relationships, sharing resources and following the pulse of God where it is already beating
"If you want to speak life, you've got to start with Love - We know the source of all love comes from God." This is the main piece of what the kids will be learning this week. How do you learn to love Jesus? A genuine love for Jesus spreads to a love for others. How do you teach youth to love Jesus?

Please pray that the teaching would be clear, and that we find a way to bridge the gap between believer and soon to be believer. It is difficult to challenge the youth to"Speak Like" if they have no understanding of a relationship with the Life Giver.

Putting 400 encouraging notes on lockers at South Grenville district high school was an excellent way of getting the youths attention. We have 6 new youth signed up to join the Random Acts group in the high school. Please pray they remember about it on Wednesday this week, and that we are able to set the vision before the youth without upsetting the lines of authority we are bound by.
The group of 3 young women chosen to be part of the LIT team will be reading through the book of Joshua. We met yesterday and discussed everything from Calvinism to how Satan became a fallen angel. There is one beautiful young woman in this group who I carry to the Lord almost continually as of late. Much has been shown to me about her family, and her needs. Please pray for discernment moving forward, and for Gods love to flow through us to her home.
We need continued prayer for the JUNE 10 Rally in Prescott at the outdoor amphitheater. Tim Conrad and I (Johanna) are working on the talk to be shared the rally. Please pray for clarity, wisdom, protection and peace.
We are int he process of deciding programming and Summer activities right now. How and if to do VBS with another church or on our own, where... what our Tuesday night youth might look like, Camping trip??? Please pray that into the Summer we would hear clearly on what God would have us do. I know VBS can be a powerful ministry, and need the manpower to do this. Please pray, I know God will bless and reveal.
This Summer Upper Canada YFC will be applying for Charitable status. We will be evaluating ministry from the last year, and putting structure in place to sustain the growing need for YFC in rural areas such as Prescott. We will also be looking at how to grow our sphere of influence in the Upper Canada Region. As God continues to guide, we would ask that you also seek out guidance as to whether if there is a greater role He would like you to play in this ministry. Please contact me if you would like to explore what this might mean for you. As we seek Him out together, you may have a passion for something we have not even thought of, please share!

I (Johanna) thank God for each one of you and the influence we are having for the Kingdom today.  You are part of a global movement that cares for and brings youth into a kingdom that will never fade. God is so good, and through us He can do far more than we could ever dream or imagine.

May God continue to bless you in all things.

Hidden in the one and only God,
Johanna

Upper Canada Youth For Christ, serving rural youth ministries in Upper Canada by building relationships, sharing resources and following the pulse of God where it is already beating
We begin a new series this week based on Proverbs 18:21. This is the beginning of a five week series on Speaking LIFE (as Jesus would) into the lives of other people. We will be giving the youth a new challenge every week based on "L.I.F.E." (L) love, (I) illuminate, (F) forgive, (E) encourage. At the end of the series we will be having a Youth Rally with other youth groups involved in the teaching from the Upper Canada region. This is the June 10 rally booked for the outdoor amphitheater in Prescott.

Please pray for the youth to understand the lasting affect they can have on those around them with their words, not just temporally but eternally. That Jesus through them is most powerful, and that eternal life is the best "words" anyone could speak into another person's life.

Below you can check out the intro video for week 1.
WORDS = LIFE (click here for intro video)
As we kick off our WORDS = LIFE campaign, we will be blessing South Grenville District High School this week with our words. Tuesday night after youth we have been given permission to go into the high school to put 400 encouraging sticky notes up on every Sr. high locker at South Grenville. Please pray that the original intention to bless others with our words is felt and known, and we have some interest from the youth in joining the Random Acts group.
On Wednesday this week, Upper Canada YFC will be participating in a Youth Fair at South Grenville High School in Prescott. We will be inviting youth to become part of the Random Acts group. We are hoping to generate new group members when they see the influence 400 encouraging sticky notes can have on their school.
Every Monday afternoon I will be gathering with a group of 3 young ladies to teach and challenge them in an L.I.T. group. These three young ladies have shown their natural leadership capabilities, and it is time to call them to go deeper with the Lord so that they can learn how to lead for the Kingdom. Please pray for wisdom, clear direction and consistency with accountability. This group will not only stretch them with one another, but also stretch this leader.

Upper Canada Youth For Christ, serving rural youth ministries in Upper Canada by building relationships, sharing resources and following the pulse of God where it is already beating
This week at youth we have invited all of the parents to a potluck to celebrate the end of Alpha with us.  Not all of the parents are believers, and so we would ask that you would pray for bold love, gentle spoken truth, and for God to open the eyes of the hearts of those whom he chooses to hear from Him that night. Pray all will be hungry for Christ centered, authentic community. Pray for relationships to be healed and renewed, and for Jesus Christ to be the center.
Our week at a glance...

  • Finish Editing all teaching for youth Rally
Thursday May 5
  • Youth leaders gathering for Breakfast in Brockville

Sunday May 8
  • Final Practice before "All About Jo" with Prescott Kids Choir

Prayer is so very important to myself and the ministry I am a part of.  It keeps me focused, accountable, and connected to each person who cares about what we are doing. There are so many stories of peoples lives being affected by how God is moving.  He is on the move... and I cannot help but wonder if something "GREAT" even greater than we have experienced is on its way. Let us pray this way... As simplistic as it might sound, God, pour out your greatness over our dry and thirsty land. Make us more desperate to see you move, move as you must, and do what you must in order for your will to be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Amen.
